Some time ago I was contacted by someone posing as an Egyptian businesswoman who asked me why I wanted to destroy Egypt’s economy. I assumed that the person chatting with me was from Egyptian intelligence. I explained to them that, on the contrary, I am trying to help prevent the destruction of the Egyptian economy and to hinder the onslaught of the Neoliberal program. I explained what Neoliberalism will mean to Egypt, and the types of economic policies which could potentially protect the country from being enslaved to foreign creditors and investors.
This person suggested that she could arrange for me to meet with members of the regime to explain my ideas, and perhaps they would listen. Obviously, I took this suggestion as an attempt to arrange for my arrest. I expressed my willingness to discuss with anyone about these issues, if they contacted me through my lawyer. And, yes, I meant that. It is waajib to utilize any and all channels possible to try to prevent the Neoliberal program from being imposed on the Muslims.
I have stated clearly, over and over again, that the important issue is policy not personality. If Sisi were to suddenly adopt policies that are just and beneficial to Egypt, of course I would support that; it is obligatory to do so, and it would be insane to do otherwise. Any leader, like any regular man, is capable of taubah. If it happens, Al-Hamdulillah, may Allah accept it.
I believed that I was talking to someone from the regime up until the point when “she” invited me to be her boyfriend. At that point I realized that I was just talking to one of the traitors among the “Islamists” whose objective was not to jail me, but to entrap me in a scandal. I have become very used to this, so I abruptly, but politely, ended the communication.
This traitor subsequently published portions of the chat, accusing me of being pro-Sisi though the content of my words is quite clear and consistent with everything I have written publicly.
I do not support or oppose any individual or any party. I support and oppose only policies and ideas, and I urge the revolutionaries to do the same.
