Henkel is a major multinational German corporation dealing in both consumer and industrial products.
According to the company website, their products “Pril” and “General” are market leader in their category in Egypt and “Persil” is ranked as number 2 in the market.
They currently operate a factory in Port Said producing these and other products sold in Egypt (with profits, of course, flowing back to Germany), and they have plans for expansion.
They are in the process of building a new facility in 6th of October City. While the new facility is not a secret, I have received information that the company plans to relocate all the existing machinery from the Port Said factory to 6th of October City, and they are keen to keep this information hidden.
Removal of the machinery seems clearly to indicate that the Port Said location is likely to either be shutdown altogether, or downgraded, leading to employee layoffs; hence the company’s desire to keep this move secret.
If the machinery were to be damaged or destroyed prior to the move, it would be a significant blow to Henkel’s plans. Obviously, if any disruption can be undertaken to hinder the construction of the new facility, this would also impose meaningful losses on corporate profitability.
If you, or anyone you know works at the Henkel factory in Port Said, please spread this information among the workers and try to organize a disruptive response, while simultaneously delivering a message to corporate headquarters that this disruption is a revolutionary action.
