You must always be able to fight with whatever you have at hand, even if that is nothing but your own hands. This is true on an individual level, and it is true on a societal level. It is true whether you are talking about a one-on-one fight in the street, or whether you are talking about revolution.
Some from the jihadists may belittle the disruptive tactics I have mentioned, because they have fallen into the trap of dependence upon weapons; they have forgotten, perhaps, the mosquito in Nimrod’s nostril. They have forgotten, perhaps, how the nation of Fir’aun was brought to their knees by frogs and locusts. They have forgotten, perhaps, how Bani Nadheer was defeated by the burning of their date palm trees.
Open Source Revolution means utilizing tactics accessible to anyone; men and women, young and old, groups or individuals.
If you cannot understand the strategic usefulness of, for instance, disabling CCTV cameras, frankly, you have not even begun to understand basic tactical logic, and I doubt very much that if you had weapons, you would have a clue how best to use them.
Something as simple, inexpensive, and relatively risk-free as, say, blocking the plumbing of an office, or breaking out their windows, or jamming their door locks, or slashing the tires of delivery vehicles, or calling in a bomb threat, can result in major expenses and loss of productivity costing thousands and thousands of dollars.
Furthermore, it can create residual disruptions to efficiency as the company tries to implement measures to avoid being struck again.
It is just not that difficult to disable a business. Every business begins from a default position of failure, and must build a complex and extremely fragile system to enable it to achieve profitability. This system can be targeted in almost unlimited ways.
I have tried to suggest tactics which the people can actually do; tactics almost anyone is capable of carrying out; and which can have an immediate, palpable impact. You do not have to wait until a rich Kuwaiti buys you a rocket launcher.
You can go out tonight, alone or with friends, spray paint the CCTV cameras along a selected street, break the windows of a multinational office or franchise, destroy their computers, their machinery, etc; you can go out tonight and slash the tires of delivery vehicles outside the warehouse of a multinational company; and you can tell them “This is a revolutionary action. You will not be allowed to profit from our oppression. This is a tax imposed on your company for collaborating with injustice. Oppression is a bad business decision.” And you can, thereby, convert their support for the coup into opposition.
