It may run counter to the general logic, but in fact, achieving organizational unity is not actually what we need to work on. The idea is so drummed into our heads that we need to unite along a hierarchical group structure, that we don’t even question whether or not it is a good idea. However, when you are in the opposition, when you are undertaking a revolution against the dominant power structure, adhering to a strict and centralized organizational model is absolutely against your interests

Frankly, I would distrust any effort that seeks, at this stage in our struggle, to corral the Muslims into a large and structured group entity. While we are still in the process, indeed, in the early phase, of the campaign for independence; caging the Muslims in a hierarchy and centralized organization, can too easily be used to de-mobilize the population and kill independent activism.
The main problem we are facing is the convergence of interests between elites at the top of the local hierarchy with the interests of elites at the top of the global hierarchy. How can we be sure that the elites at the top of a group hierarchy won’t also collaborate along the same lines?
