Armies do not invade and occupy countries because they have independently decided to do so. Soldiers follow a chain of command. Previously, the head of state was at the top of that chain of command. Today, however, the head of state is himself a subordinate manager, and his government is a subsidiary. Presidents of countries are lower in rank to CEOs of multinational corporations, and CEOs are lower in rank to their corporate boards of directors, and these, finally, are subordinate to shareholders. That is the real existing chain of command in the world today
