It is a distressing phenomenon among those loyal to any political party that they condemn the wrongs of their rivals and the rationales used to justify those wrongs; but defend their own party with sometimes identical rationales when it commits the same types of wrongs.
This is completely unacceptable among Muslims.
“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah , even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.”
If party affiliation interferes with your ability to fulfill this command….and especially if that party obliges you to suspend your compliance with this command. ..break that affiliation.
