I am afraid that many of us may be hoping for Islamic government for no other reason than to utilize the force of the state to impose absolute conclusions upon issues of fiqh about which disagreement is permissible; to be able to threaten people with punishment or revocation of citizenship, or to even make takfir on them, over differences of opinion which are of no real consequence.
