Can we have debate and discussion, and objective criticism without accusing people of having defective ‘Aqeedah, please?
This is something I hear all the time, and I admit I have done it myself sometimes in the past, astaghfirAllah. People say the Muslim Brotherhood has a weak ‘Aqeedah because they take an often over-conciliatory approach, and people say Da’esh has a weak ‘Aqeedah because they are overly confrontational and strict.
This method of disagreeing is destructive and alienating, it causes division and hinders improvement. If you disagree with the Ikhwan (as I often do), point out the specific mistakes and explain why they are mistakes in your view. If you disagree with Da’esh (as I often do) limit your criticism to the specific points that you feel are errors.
Say “this or that was wrong because…”, but don’t say “they are bad…they are ignorant…they are traitors…etc”
Good, decent, righteous people make mistakes. And even those mistakes can often times be perfectly permissible things which we regard as mistakes because of our own reasons and viewpoints. We are not commanded to examine the hearts of people, only their actions; so when you criticize, criticize actions. Do not expand your criticism to the point of saying, for instance, “they did this wrong thing BECAUSE they do not understand the religion, or BECAUSE they are sellouts, or BECAUSE they are khawaarij, etc”
Remember that when we are judged, Allah will particularize every single deed separately, weighing each one, even if it is as small as an atom’s worth of good or an atom’s worth of bad. That illustrates for you the proper manner of judging; specific, disciplined, and exact.
