An entirely dubious connection has been made between Da’esh and the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida. This will give us a good example of what I wrote about yesterday; how the West is using the extremism of those who go beyond the mandate of the religion to coerce Muslims to adopt the extremism of falling short of what the religion mandates.
Not only will Muslims be expected to apologise for the killings, and condemn them, they will further be expected to make statements, gestures, and active efforts to condone, tolerate, and even show support for the “rights” of homosexuals. This incident will be used to force us to compromise fundamental elements of our belief.
I have already seen comments (by Muslims) that Muslims need to do more to support homosexuals and defend them against discrimination…to help create “safe places” for homosexuals, and so on. We will be expected to not only condemn the shootings, but to condemn “homophobia”; and many of us will fall into this trap…many already have.
I am not aware of any nation that was destroyed for any reason other than Shirk, except for the people of Nabi Lut. Are we to condemn their destruction as well?
Let’s be frank; homosexuality exists in the Muslim world…in fact, I would even say that it exists in some parts of the Muslim world even more than it does in the West. But, of course, it is taboo, and no one acknowledges it, and everyone recognizes that it is a tremendous sin. It has not been, and insha’Allah, it never will be normalized. This incident, however, will be used to move us in the direction of normalization of this behavior. Condemning homosexuality will be interpreted as condoning the attack in Orlando.
Of course we know that the Shari’ah punishment for homosexuality is death; but the same standard of evidence applies to this crime as is applied to zena. In other words, it is almost impossible to convict someone except in the most flagrant and public instances. What we condone is compliance with the Shari’ah, and what we condemn is non-compliance with the Shari’ah. In this case, we condemn the indiscriminate killing of people, and we condemn the behavior championed by the victims.
Our position towards homosexuality is not “homophobic” any more than our position towards drunkenness is “alcoholophobic” or our position towards killing is “murderophobic”. We hate what Allah Hates, and love what He Loves, and we hope for all people that they will adhere to the latter category as much as possible, and avoid the former category as much as possible.
We do not, and should not allow ourselves to be forced to “stand in solidarity” with any community which defines itself by its sin. We hope that those people who commit sodomy will refrain from doing so, and that those people who feel entitled to commit indiscriminate murder will refrain from doing so. That is our religion, so let the blamers blame as they like.
