Question:
You agree that putting pressure and resisting are a duty but you differ on “who” this should be directed against; majority of the revolutionaries are directing their efforts against the façade rulers but you support directing the efforts against the actual rulers who are manipulating the façade rulers, right? So you agree on the concept but disagree on the orientation?
Answer:
Yes, of course. And this is for both religious and strategic, practical reasons. Directing your opposition against a Muslim government that is merely a façade makes no practical sense, nor is it correct in the religion. Toppling it will not change your situation; toppling it will not empower you to appoint a government of your own choosing, as long as the real existing power structure remains in place; and I think you should recognize that very clearly in Egypt’s recent history.
You should direct your efforts against the actual ruling authority because that is the only way to achieve real change, and because the actual ruling authority is the domination of the Kuffar over the Muslims (including the Muslims’ governments), and thus, it is more appropriate in the religion to target them.
