There is a common criticism directed at me that I do not tolerate other opinions. However, this criticism has never been made by anyone who disagrees by a well thought out argument, whose views are based on actual information, research and deliberation, and who can discuss his ideas intelligently and respectfully.
This criticism normally comes from people who think that all opinions are of equal value and validity if you just believe in them strongly enough, even if they cannot be supported by facts and reason. So yes, I confess, I do not tolerate other opinions when they are themselves whimsical and empty.
Look, when you don’t take your own opinion seriously enough to be able to substantiate it, why should anyone else take it seriously?
We are fighting for accurate understanding, against ignorance and distortion and fantasies; because what we do is going to be based on what we understand, and that will make the difference between futility and progress, between defeat and victory.
