The objective of targeting multinational corporations and investors is not to drive them out of the country. The point is not to destroy them. The point is to commandeer their power; it is to force them, for the sake of their own profit interests, to use their influence to serve public demands. They are institutions of enormous power. Right now, that power is being used exclusively to serve their own interests; they are totalitarian and mercenary; but through the strategy of disruption, we can democratize their power by making their support for oppressive political policies unprofitable.
I don’t say that it is haraam to work for these companies, or to patronize them. By working for them, and by being their customers, we can insert a potential lever into their operations that will give us a measure of influence in them; aside from the fact that we can benefit from the salaries, work experience, and the goods and services they provide. I have no problem with companies in and of themselves; the problem is with the political influence their economic power gives them, ad which they are not using to serve the public interest.
Until you are able to secure the sovereignty of your government so that it can impose regulations on business, you will have to regulate them yourselves. You will have to hold them accountable yourselves. You will have to impose consequences yourselves against these institutions of private power for their exploitation, oppression, and tyranny.
In a revolutionary strategy against these companies, their employees would become the most valuable asset. Not only can they provide rebels with information, but they can themselves disrupt operations from within. They will know better than anyone how best to sabotage the corporate systems they work in every day.
As consumers, you are the source of their profits, and it is upon your activity that they base their expectations of future profitability. That instantly gives you leverage.
If your aim is to drive them out of your country, you will find that you have deprived yourself of the potentially greatest instrument you have to impose your will on the government. Once you democratize the influence of the corporations, you will possess the political equivalent of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and the government will have no choice but to adhere to your demands.
