We are at the beginning of what is likely to be a long historical arc that will mean both the end of monopolistic capitalism and the accumulation of wealth by the few through the dispossession of the many, and also the elevation of human society to a higher level of civilization and fairness. How long or how short this arc will ultimately be depends on what we ourselves do.
The ravenous, parasitic greed of the world’s wealthiest people has driven us, and is driving us, into a new Dark Ages of global corporate feudalism which is completely unsustainable in the long term.
The world’s youth, particularly the youth of this Ummah, have become a transitional generation at whose hands it is possible that radical change can be achieved. While young people everywhere are turning away from the previously unchallenged established systems of economic and political order, they do not have anywhere to turn for an alternative; the youth of our Ummah do.
Just as the European Enlightenment grew out of the West’s exposure to the Muslim world, our Islamic values can be the light, the torch, towards which the poor, the disenfranchised, the oppressed and exploited in every land will turn for guidance and inspiration to lead them through and out of the new Dark Ages of Capitalism’s violent battle against its own demise.
