There has been, basically, a worldwide billionaire’s revolution going on for the past several years. They have taken a very methodical, gradual approach, with occasional surges, sieges, retreats, and pauses; but overall, a constant advancement that has broken down nearly all resistance; and step by step, they have overthrown the former systems of authority and governance to install themselves as the supreme rulers…over the US, over Europe, and over the developing world.
Their revolution has progressed through stages, and it is possible to identify many of the key victories they achieved which have enabled them to reach the point at which they are today. Things like the dissolution of the Bretton Woods economic system, the creation of the IMF, World Bank, and the WTO; things like NAFTA and other free trade agreements, the deregulation of banking, the enactment of laws for unrestricted corporate political donations, the creation of the European Union and the Euro, and so on; are all significant triumphs in the global coup by the 1%.
And, within specific countries, we can identify important victories as well; any time a country takes a loan from the IMF, the World Bank, or any other international “development” bank and begins to implement the macroeconomic reforms stipulated in the loan agreement; in Egypt, things like the law banning third party opposition to foreign investor activity; the cutting of food and fuel subsidies, represent major successes.
It is vital for us to understand that what is happening is a revolution against state sovereignty and political authority, and that this project moves forward by means of key events. It is not inevitable, it is not some sort of natural disaster that cannot be anticipated, resisted, or thwarted. Certain things have happened which allowed it to triumph, and certain things are still being pursued; and we can do something about that.
The Economic Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh in March last year was a major event, a decisive moment, that had a massive impact on the future of the billionaire’s revolutionary project in Egypt and the region. Had that conference been derailed, the past 19 months could have looked very different. A peoples’ counter-revolution could have emerged as a real force in Egypt to impede the progress of the billionaires.
We have to recognize this so that we can identify any upcoming events and steps that will further consolidate their power and compound our subjugation; so that we can organize ourselves and adopt a strategy that will turn those events in our favor; for they are turning points, and they will either be victories for them or victories for us.
