Small disruptive actions occurring here and there throughout Egypt targeting multinationals, foreign investments, and any element in the private sector connected to them, will have a significant impact on the confidence of the international business community. They will interpret such acts as an ominous sign that the revolutionary movement has in fact discovered their role in the enslavement of the nation, and shifted its focus towards economic tyranny.
If employees of a multinational (particularly executives, of course) find the tires of their cars slashed when they are leaving the office, or even if the tires are simply deflated…say, a dozen cars in the office parking lot…they will understand that this is a deliberate warning. And this warning will be communicated up the chain of command at the company, reaching all the way to the CEOs and shareholders.
It requires nothing more than two or three people, or even one, passing through the parking lot and removing the caps from the tires; a job of only a few minutes and very little risk, but with a considerable effect.
There will be some who say that such a small action cannot achieve any results, but these are the same people who believed that sending emails to the IMF and multinationals was futile, and we have seen the massive impact those messages had. Do not disparage any disruptive action, no matter how small it is. You do not know how great the ripple effect can be.
