The loan was negotiated and agreed upon without any popular participation or consent by the people of Egypt; the very people who will bear the burden of repaying it, and who will suffer the consequences of the Austerity program stipulated in the loan conditions.
The decision on the loan was delayed due to popular opposition expressed in messages sent to the IMF office in Cairo, and to several multinational corporations in Egypt, warning them that the Egyptian people will impose consequences of their own against the interests of the foreign investors who will be the only beneficiaries of the loan if it is approved.
The loan, and its accompanying conditions represent a formula for debt slavery, economic subjugation, and social misery for the vast majority of the Egyptian people, and it will be opposed, and should be, by everyone who sincerely cares about the future of the country.
