Facebook in Egypt has become a channel for communication between the rebels and the regime, and the Intelligence services. We are generally worried about being monitored and identified as insurgents, which is a real concern; however, you can also use this monitoring strategically. Whatever the regime knows about the revolutionaries and their strategies and priorities, it usually knows from Facebook.
Therefore, whatever you want them to know, whatever impression you want them to have about the revolution; you can communicate it to them here. You can be sure that they are not genuinely concerned about much of the rhetoric posted by the Islamist parties, nor are they worried about clips and cartoons making fun of Sisi. But if they start to see more and more posts and comments expressing opposition to the IMF loan and to the economic policies of Austerity and neoliberalism; posts and comments that warn of severe consequences to the private sector if this policy agenda continues to move forward; they will panic.
