The latest statement by the Muslim Brotherhood makes no mention of the IMF, the loan, nor the Austerity policies it demands. instead, they refer to the economic misery in Egypt, and lay the blame exclusively upon the military regime, and, it is worth noting, fault the regime for failing to attract more foreign investment.
Why are they afraid to say the name of the IMF? Why do they refuse to identify the real policy causes for the economic disaster in Egypt?
I will tell you why; because they want to convince the power structure (including the IMF) that they would serve them better than the army. They do not want to confront them because they do not want to alienate them; they do not want to alienate them because they hope to collaborate with them.
An Islamist party cannot even bring itself to condemn a usurious loan that would leave the population poorer and hungrier while forcing them to pay Riba to the IMF for the rest of their lives? Really?
