“Reforms written by the Egyptians”…he means, “copied and pasted by the regime from the IMF”….
The Egyptian people will have to repay this loan, and they will have to suffer the Austerity policies the loan imposes; but they were not consulted, their consent was not sought, and they had no role in the negotiations.
Only because the people collectively rose to threaten the interests of multinationals and investors if the loan proceeds , now their consent has become a factor.
You have forced your way to the negotiating table, and they are trying to assure you that you will benefit from being slaves, even though you “distrust” the chains being placed around your necks, you are supposed to believe that they are “chains of prosperity”.
You have put them on the defensive, and you must continue to push
