For those who have announced that Carrefour will be targeted on November 11th :
First, obviously, you should expect that this public announcement should cause heightened security at Carrefour locations in Egypt. Indeed, you should hope for that because it would mean that your announcement has been taken seriously. If your announcement is taken seriously, this adds to your arsenal of tactics. In the future, you will be able to cause disruption merely by declaring the intent to disrupt.
Secondly, if they do not take the threat seriously, it is imperative that you fulfil your threat as thoroughly as possible; both to inflict loss on Carrefour and on investor confidence in Egypt, and also to ensure that you will be taken seriously in the future.
Thirdly, you should publicise your intention to disrupt Carrefour to international media as much as possible, and you should begin to monitor the value of Carrefour’s share price. If the publicity does not negatively affect the share price, it is not enough publicity.
Fourthly, you should, within the ranks of your supporters, organise a secondary target which you do not publicise, and you should immediately transfer your action to that target if you find that Carrefour is tightly guarded.
In my own opinion, I would prefer that an undisclosed target be the real target, and Carrefour simply be a deliberate decoy used to manipulate the security response. But perhaps you can utilise this technique in the future.
