Posted on November 13, 2016 by Shahid Bolsen

We must reject an economic model that is primarily concerned with the prosperity of business but ignores the standard of living of the population. When the profitability of companies is based on exploitation, over-charging and under-paying, and the upward flow of revenues, with executives earning salaries dozens of times, even hundreds of times greater than the lowest wage earners at the same company; the prosperity of that business does not represent a healthy economy.

Government’s job is not to promote corporate profitability. This should be an obvious statement, so obvious that it should not even be necessary to say. But, business has so dominated governments that, yes, many of us actually think that if companies make more money, that somehow automatically translates to a prosperous and thriving economy, and a better life for the people (which is something governments are supposed to be concerned with); but of course, this is not true at all.
