Most of the work of government is economic.
One of the primary jobs of the state is to determine how, when, and from where to collect revenue from the population; and to determine how, when, and where the money should be spent.
When the state surrenders that responsibility, there is very little left for government to do, other than to enforce the decisions dictated to it by those to whom they have surrendered responsibility.
