In Sudan, as elsewhere, the government is drawn disproportionately from a certain segment in society, and serves the interests of that segment. Any protest movement should logically aim at the disruption of the interests of the ruling class itself, not only the government. Through this method, you can recruit the power of the ruling elites to influence policy in a way that will protect their interests, even if that means a reduction in their privileges, if the alternative is the complete loss of privilege.
