When you overtly call for the toppling of the government, you undermine your own goals.
It is something that I have repeated endlessly for years, and its repetition will always continue to be necessary: focus on policies not personalities. Do not allow your desire to change the system and the society morph into a desire to destroy it. If you conclude that you do in fact need to topple a regime, do not confront it in that way; you will lose. You will lose either because the regime is stronger than you, or because your goals will be lost in the struggle as new imperatives arise as a result of your confrontation. Topple the regime by undermining it, chipping away at it, and eventually transforming it. Do this through organizing around policy demands, disrupting the interests of the elites from whom the regime is drawn, and whom the regime serves.
