Of course I know that what I have written recently about Syria is distasteful to many of the followers of this page. But the reality is ugly.
Those of you who believe that armed jihad against the regime was, and is, the correct strategy, and that it is what the religion mandates,; that the catastrophic damage the war has inflicted on the society is worthwhile for the sake of the ultimate outcome; ok, please tell me what the ultimate outcome is that you expect?
By all estimates, if fighting ceased today, rebuilding Syria will take at least 30 years, and will cost many times more than the country’s pre-war GDP. Who is going to rebuild it, and with what funds? And what conditions will be attached to those funds? I would really like to know.
If an acceptable outcome for you is that Syria remains a devastated society with no infrastructure, no economy, no regional influence, completely helpless and defenseless against Israel, with a population that has grown up without an education; but in which there is some version of Shari’ah; ok. You can achieve that; assuming you are able to conquer the entire country; which I guess you do assume.
No. I am very sorry to tell you that you are being misled and manipulated by arms dealers and Khaleeji businessmen who will profit from your blood.
It is very ugly and very distasteful, as much to me as it is to you. But this is the reality
