Abu Bakr, ‘Umar, ‘Uthman, and ‘Ali were essentially totalitarian rulers; and in order for Totalitarianism to work for society, the rulers have to be like them.
So, are the anti-Democracy Islamists who want us to distrust our fellow Muslims’ commitment to Shari’ah suggesting that they themselves are of the same quality as the Khulafah Rashideen, even though they were produced by the same ‘ignorant’ Ummah which they themselves are telling us to distrust?
“Don’tallow the people to participate in government, they will reject Shari’ah…trust us…we will be benevolent and righteous dictators”
Are we supposed to take their word for that?
