Let me just see if I can get this straight…You want to overthrow Sisi because he overthrew the democratically elected government, and he is a dictator who rules without consent. And you want to replace him with an undemocratic government that rules without consent, because democracy is haraam? And that makes sense to you?
You want to have an “Islamic” dictatorship that is not elected and which has no provisions for popular participation because that could potentially lead to the majority voting against Shari’ah. OK. So, what do you do when the ruler goes against Shari’ah and you have no provisions for removing him from power? Revolt? How is that working for you in Egypt so far?
Honestly, I don’t know how many times it needs to be repeated: democracy operates within the boundaries of the rule of law. If your constitution upholds the Shari’ah as the law of the land, the population elects rulers and representatives who have to operate within those boundaries. They do not have the authority to make halaal haraam or haraam halaal. If elected officials misuse their positions in any way, you can remove them. I really don’t know what is so difficult to understand here. You trust dictatorship and distrust the population? Have you had such a wonderful experience with dictatorship?
