A little less than half the American public believes that sex before marriage is morally wrong, but apparently only about 3% of them “successfully” stay celibate until they marry. What does that tell you? The society is not reinforcing the aspirational moral values of the people; popular culture, particularly the media, is literally sabotaging people’s ability to adhere to their own beliefs. This is because the tools that control popular culture (TV, films, music, advertising etc) are in the hands of a minority who do not share those values and beliefs.
