Al-Hamdulillah, Unilever CEO Paul Polman has replied positively to our letter. We told him that his company has the power and influence to do more to end the genocide in Myanmar, and he said he agrees. Though he asserted that he believes Unilever has already taken a good stance, he said that he will be traveling to Myanmar next week and will follow up on this issue.
I believe that our messages to him and various Unilever board members have been useful. We need to push him to make a public statement on the Rohingya issue during, or after his visit to Myanmar.
This is good progress!
