From a Rohingya Muslim in Arakan:
“The world itself is greedy enough to ignore right and wrong to grab these monetary benefits. The world is willing to ignore the plight of victimised people to gain chances of investments in Burma.”
Until the #WeAreAllRohingyaNow campaign, the obvious economic factors driving the genocide have been largely ignored, and the major players; the multinational corporations and foreign investors; were able to remain indifferent to the atrocities being committed to secure their access to resources.
The people on the ground know what is happening, the victims of economic imperialism understand who is brutalizing them, and why.
You do not need an advanced degree in international relations, or to do extensive research to grasp what is going on.
Al-Hamdulillah the campaign to stop the ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya has embarked on a new strategy that will apply pressure to the real drivers behind the genocidal policy in Myanmar, multinational corporations can no longer hide behind the curtains of governments or international institutions like the United Nations; they are themselves political entities, and we will deal with them as such.
