Any company’s PR and marketing departments need to begin considering the value of democratisation. They need to realise how essential it is going to be in the near future for the public to see their businesses as institutions of power that actually stand up for, fight for, and represent, the issues that their customers care about.
People are becoming increasingly disillusioned with their political representatives; with their governments; precisely because they see that they serve the interests of business and disregard the concerns and needs of their constituents. It is only natural that we will begin to redirect our political, social, and economic demands then to the real institutions of power and control. Wise corporate leaders will anticipate this shift in political activism, and move voluntarily to democratise their influence, and embrace the role of advocating the will and aspirations of the population.
