The US has an aging population. The birthrate has not met “replacement” level since the early 1970s. The workforce is decreasing on both ends. This is leading to a social, political and economic dynamic in which the old are cannibalising the young. And it will make healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry the major engines of the economy.
