In countries where the governments are committing gross human rights abuses, or, as in Myanmar, carrying out systematic genocide of an entire population; if multinational companies are able to continue to invest and profit in those countries, there will never be an incentive for those governments to change their behaviour, and no incentive for governments internationally to apply any pressure for them to do so.
