The economic case for human rights is a case that we are going to have to make; as consumers and as workers. And it is a case we have to make, because if we don’t, I am afraid we cannot expect progress on any human rights issues, any issues of political fairness, or any issues of oppression and injustice in society at all; because the fact is, the dominant players in society today are corporations and their owners; and whether or not a humanitarian crisis or conflict gets resolved, or gets ignored, or gets escalated, is increasingly going to be determined on the basis of its impact on business.
