The West is losing its mind. The entire discourse on transgenderism is, for me, just another indication that the West is descending into a new Dark Age in which rational thought, reason, logic, and science are discarded in favour of whim and delusion; which of course, means abject confusion and chaos.
I remember when it was a thing to encourage men to “get in touch with their feminine side”, without it being concluded that, if they did that, they were in fact women trapped in men’s bodies; and when girls could be “tomboys” without being regarded as “misgendered” and encouraged to get hormone treatment.
I remember when it was regarded as sexist programming to give little girls baby dolls and Barbies, but if a little boy today is identified as a “trans” child, he is to be given such toys to help affirm his girlishness. Whatever happened to boys and girls just having so-called masculine and feminine traits, and still being allowed to be the sex and gender they are? In their campaign to do away with conventional gender roles, liberals have ironically become near fanatical in affirming them.
Look, abnormalities exist, but they are incredibly rare. At least 99.93% of men possess the XY chromosomes and 99.93% of women the XX chromosomes; and this determines their sex, and their sex determines their gender. Genetic mutations do not justify a complete redefinition of what does or does not constitute a male or female. And yes, if you possess XY, you are a male, if you possess XX, you are a female; and if you imagine that this is not the case; if you do not have a genetic abnormality; then what you have is a mental abnormality. You are imagining that you are something other than what you are. This is delusional schizophrenia.
It is not society’s obligation to be enablers of mental illness in people just because confronting it is awkward and painful for them. Suicide rates among the transgender community are shocking, they are not improved when a man undergoes surgery to more closely resemble a woman, nor when a woman undergoes surgery to more closely resemble a man; in fact, the rates actually increase after surgery. Because what we are talking about is someone who is suffering from extreme mental illness, but whose illness is being accommodated instead of treated.
Claiming that if we pretend along with them that they are, or can be, the sex of their choosing, that this will somehow abate the massive psychological and emotional disorders they are suffering, is horribly irresponsible. Applauding and affirming someone’s utter detachment from reality is tremendously inhumane; and obliging society to do so is extremely dangerous
