Kofi Annan says:
” Once a thriving trading hub and a major producer of rice in Asia, Rakhine today is one of the poorest states in Myanmar, plagued by inter-communal tension and conflict, and the subject of intense international debate and scrutiny. The vast potential of the state remains largely unexploited for the benefit and welfare of the people of Rakhine”
Deceitfully implying that the poverty and lack of development is the result of the conflict, rather than recognising that the conflict is the result of the poverty, lack of development, and the desire to exploit the “vast potential of the state” in disregard for the “benefit and welfare of the people of Rakhine”
