We have a tendency to want to take all the problems of the Ummah…

Posted on September 13, 2017 by Shahid Bolsen

We have a tendency to want to take all the problems of the Ummah on our shoulders; motivated by the hadith about the Ummah being one body; and we often impose an enormous sense of hyper-responsibility upon ourselves for matters that are well beyond our capability because “we will be asked about the suffering of others”.

But please remember that your accountability is bounded by your capacity; It is very unhealthy to be consumed with matters that are beyond your sphere of influence, and it can lead to serious mental and emotional disorders.

Be as responsible and useful as possible within the perimeters of your capability, and if you want to be effective in matters that lie beyond your sphere of influence, the only way to do that is to expand your sphere of influence.
