Insha’Allah I will begin tonight the series of video clips about the major problems with conventional Islamism. Thank you all for your suggestions regarding the order of the content, and whether to do recorded or live videos.
I am going to follow the suggestion of one Brother and begin with what is really the conclusion I have reached about conventional Islamism, that it is essentially a scam. Insha’Allah I will post a recorded video, as well as the core text presented in it, and then possibly, I will either open a live session thereafter to discuss it, or possibly I will save such a discussion until the end of the series.
To be clear, I am not doing this because I do not believe that Islam should have a role in policy making, a role in public life; of course I believe it should. But I strongly feel that the approach and ideology of conventional Islamism has been detrimental in many, many ways; and I would like to see us reform the concept of Political Islam from the ground up so that it might have a meaningful positive impact and bring benefit to society. I believe that until now, the sum achievements of Islamism have been more harmful than useful, and I sincerely hope that we can move towards something more positive, more realistic, more practical, and more genuinely in line with the religion.
