75% of oil revenues disappeared for #Sudan with the creation of South Sudan; and between 30-40% of Sudan’s #gold is smuggled out of the country by the small scale miners who extract it.
Any new government will inherit the same problems; the same pressures, the same limited choices; except that a new government that takes power in the wake of a revolutionary overthrow of the current regime will have to address these problems and pressures amidst a political crisis that, itself, will create new problems.
And, from what I have been told, the protesters imagine that they can develop a political and economic plan AFTER throwing themselves (and everyone else) into turmoil and chaos.
