So far, this is what I’ve noticed from the #coronavirus global panic.
Trade and the movement of goods is not being stopped; movement of people is being stopped. Rigid border enforcement as a matter of public health instead of xenophobic ideology. The participants in the Belt and Road Initiative are being squeezed. Isolation is being imposed, social interaction and mass gatherings banned. The vulnerable are being portrayed as expendable. Stocks have plummeted, which creates the opportunity for massive short to medium term rebound profit, as well as increased “emergency” funneling of public money into the private sector.
So far, what I’ve noticed from the Corona Virus in real life is that most people do not develop severe symptoms and most people recover. If severe symptoms develop, you should be hospitalized, if not, stay home and recuperate.
I’m not making light of it. But I have become quite accustomed to the inflation of crises for political and economic purposes, so yes, I remain sceptical.
