There is always an all-important contrast between the stated objective of most government policies and the actual objective.
If you believe that the stated goal is the actual goal, you will very often conclude that the government is either incompetent or failing despite its best efforts. If, instead, you identify the actual goals, you will find that the government is, in fact, quite effective at achieving its desired results.
The chasm between the stated purpose and the actual purpose of policy has perhaps never been greater than with the policy of lockdown during the #coronavirus #pandemic.
