If the definition of “preventable deaths” means those deaths that can be prevented by locking the entire population under house arrest and declaring martial law, then yes, many, many deaths can be prevented. You will dramatically decrease traffic fatalities, deaths by lightning, most homicides, workplace deaths, plane crashes, and a very wide array of fatalities that occur outside the home.
But, with the entire population locked in their homes, won’t the healthcare services soon be overwhelmed with the sheer volume of patients who slip in the bathtub?
