Have people forgotten (or never been taught?) the ramifications that are part and parcel of the values of freedom and liberty?
I dare say these values are masculine, and are at odds with what I believe are the more feminine values of safety and security.
When your priority is freedom, it should be obvious, this comes with a sacrifice of stability, a risk to safety, and it can mean the complete absence of security. So, yes, you may not be particularly safe, but you are free; and if freedom is what matters most to you, then you accept the risks. I mean, this is why prison is a punishment — it is three meals a day and a roof over your head; guaranteed; that COULD be viewed as ultimate safety and stability — but it is a nightmare because it is the deprivation of freedom.
You are supposed to value your liberty more than your safety, more than your security; remember “give me liberty or give me death”?
Men used to be like that.
