It is actually no different if you say that African-Americans are in a disadvantaged position in society because they are genetically inferior to all other people; or if you say that they are disadvantaged because of the residual effects of slavery…either way, you are saying that they lack the normal human capacity to cope, strive, and succeed and must be supported and enabled by White people. The insult is substantively the same.
