Like many people, I am going to be shutting down my Facebook account, and my use of all FB-owned platforms. I have never faced a significant problem personally with censorship, but I can’t justify participating in further empowering the monopolistic power of a company I do not trust, and feel is overall a negative influence on public discourse.
I dislike the fact that the available alternatives are already characterized as being partisan platforms, but so be it. If I end up no longer participating in social media, I don’t think that is a great loss to myself or anyone else. I will most likely focus more on my blog, website, and YouTube channel (while also shifting video content to another platform).
Just giving you all a heads up.
