في الرأسمالية، لا يوجد شيء أكثر قداسة من مفهوم المنفعة الشخصية; ولا شيء أكثر تهميشاً من مفهوم المجتمع. ترويج الأنانية كقيمة ثقافية، والتي هي أساس الفكر الرأسمالي، وهي في حد ذاتها الوسيلة للقمع والسيطرة حيث يتم عزل الناس وتنفيرهم من بعضهم البعض. وهكذا يتم حرمانهم من السلاح الوحيد الذي يملكونه في مواجهة منظومة السلطة “تضامنهم”.
